The Aletsch Glacier is melting
at unprecedented rates and is
expected to disappear completely
in 100 years. By converting
meteologicaldata and recorded
sounds from the melting process
into audiotracks the death of
this glacier can be sonically
experienced. In this growing
collection each track represents
one year and each second of
audio represents one meter of
melted ice. We are currently
watching the world die as if
we are tourists watching an
event. These objects are album
covers for the AletschGlacier.mp3,
real collector’s items for all who
we in Dutch call “ramptoeristen”
watching the world die.
